Understanding A1C
A1C (also known as HbA1c or glycated hemoglobin) is a blood test that reflects your average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months. It measures the percentage of hemoglobin proteins in your blood that have glucose attached to them.
The higher your blood glucose levels have been, the more hemoglobin will be glycated, resulting in a higher A1C percentage.
